Crimean resistance is rising in the hope of liberation by Ukraine. But russian repressions rising too

According to the Ukrainian Commissioner for Crimea, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, resistance will grow in the occupied peninsula. "We see protest in various forms. We are talking about at least a hundred episodes. I think this is only the tip of the iceberg - what we learned through the occupying Russian "courts". Not all cases are known."

According to the latest data, there are 138 political prisoners, 105 of whom are Crimean Tatars.

(Crimean Tatars are the indigenous people of the occupied Crimea. This people supports Ukraine, because the Russians committed genocide against the Crimean Tatars earlier)

Crimean Tatars are usually accused of "extremism" and "terrorism", for example, for their participation in Noman Chelebidzhikhan's battalion, recognized by the Russian authorities as a terrorist organization.

Or they are persecuted on religious and ethnic grounds.

Most of them are representatives of Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is also recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. They are persecuted because of involvement in the Mejlis - because that is also "extremism".

All these are politically motivated persecutions, when mostly the same articles are used - participation in "extremist" and "terrorist" organizations.

Or, as in the case of Nariman Dzhelyalov, they are accused of subversive activities: allegedly on August 23 last year, he wanted to blow up a gas pipeline in the Simferopol district. They even chose a symbolic date, because it was on August 23 that the premiere of the Crimean platform took place, to which Dzhelyalov came as the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people. He opened our national office, spoke at panel discussions, addressed an international audience.

And immediately after his return, less than a week later, he was detained. In the materials of the "criminal case" that is being heard in the "court", there are no factual claims regarding subversive activities. The "materials" mainly include communication with human rights organizations, a speech on the Crimean platform was found in his phone. They no longer hide and openly show their political motives. Bohdan Ziza case

Early in the morning of May 16, 27-year-old performance artist Bohdan Ziza poured yellow and blue paint over the doors and facade of the city administration building in Yevpatoria and threw a lit Molotov cocktail into the building. So Ziza spoke out against Russian aggression against Ukraine. They could not detain him immediately, but then they figured out on the surveillance cameras.

On the same day, law enforcement officers distributed a video through the Crimean media and telegram channels, in which Ziza admitted that he had held a rally in Yevpatoria, apologized for it and said that he was ready to be punished - "to atone for his guilt with overwork."

From the moment of his arrest, friends and human rights activists have been trying to find Bohdan, but where he is is not known. There is no information on the arrest or consideration of an administrative case against Ziza on the website of the Evpatoria City Court.

Of course, paint does not damage property enough to imprison the artist. But the Russian government persecutes everyone who shows even a hint of pro-Ukrainian views.
