Human rights in russia's occupied part of Ukrainian Donbas region

The situation regarding human rights in the Russian-occupied parts of the Donbas region in Ukraine is concerning. Since the beginning of the war in 2014, both Ukrainian and international human rights organizations have documented numerous violations of human rights, including torture, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and arbitrary detention.

The Russian-backed extremists and the Russian military have been accused of committing these abuses against Ukrainian citizens, including journalists, activists, and members of the LGBT+ community. The separatists have also targeted ethnic and religious minorities in the region, particularly those who identify as Ukrainian. The conflict has also resulted in the displacement of thousands of people, with many forced to flee their homes and seek refuge elsewhere in Ukraine.

There have been reports of restrictions on freedom of movement and access to essential services, including healthcare and education, in the occupied territories. The situation in the occupied Donbas region remains a major concern for the international community.

The United Nations, the European Union, and other international organizations have called for an end to the violence and respect for human rights in the region. However, the conflict remains ongoing, and the human rights situation in the region continues to be monitored closely.
